The Button Box carries accordions from many makers, such as Hohner, Castagnari, Saltarelle, Serenellini, and Weltmeister. Although here in the United States the button accordion has often been thought of as the "poor cousin" to the more well-known piano accordion, it has always been a very popular type of accordion in the rest of the world. Often called the "button box", "squeezebox", or "melodeon", it is the direct descendant of the original accordions first developed in the early 19th century; each treble button gives a different note on the push and pull and follows a major scale pattern.
